Louis Ghost Armchair

Louis Ghost Armchair

Silhouettes are really impacting fashion and interior designs recently!  Graphics and images of iconic and historical furniture and accessories are everywhere.  The lovely thing about these pieces is that they usually represent ostentatious items like overly embellished chandeliers, or gilded Chairs from the Rococo Period which held the horror vacua mindset (lavish designs which left no unoccupied area).  The clean lines of a silhouette give us the bare bones of a great original design.  That is why they work so well in modern interiors.  The Louis Ghost Armchair is a wonderful example of this. The reinventing of the classic Louis XVI chair is achieved with flare by eliminating literally everything but its shape.

Bedford Project Table Office

Bedford Project Table Office

More and more people are working from home, studios and corner offices are becoming domesticated and I love it!  I am all about organization and in order to stay in top form, your workspace should provide a clear and functional space for all your hard work.  Enter the Bedford Project Table, it fits all the criteria with two 3×3 Bookcases for storage on both ends and a huge tabletop. The tabletop (measuring at 55” wide and 38” deep) is definitely large enough for all your crafts, serious paper work files, photo shoot layouts…you get the picture. The desk is at a kitchen-countertop height, so pick out some swiveling high stools where you can perch with your home-brewed coffee from 8-5.  Available in other colors; antique white, espresso, and mahogany stain.

Striking Glass Domes

Striking Glass Domes

Few architectural details can add the caliber of elegance and refinement to home like a leaded glass dome or ceiling.  The residential dome pictured here is the Yorkdale, designed for a private residence and measuring 8’ in diameter.  Designs are never duplicated and always original as they are handcrafted into a truly unique gem for any discerning homeowner. Solarium Design Group Ltd. has also worked on huge commercial commissions, like the Casino Niagara, but I do think they must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

Classic Eames Chair

charles eames classic chair
My all time favorite and one of the most recognizable and classic lounge chairs is the
Eames Lounge chair and Ottoman.  Charles and Ray Eames combined art and science in truly enthusiastic and impacting ways, the Eames chair was created in the late 1940’s of molded plywood (a new scientific accomplishment at the time) and leather.  It is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. You may recognize it from Fraiser Crane’s apartment or perhaps you have seen it in an ultra-modern chromed-out office of a high flying exec., whatever the case, this chair gives a timeless luxe statement.

Painting in Chocolate Tones

chocolate

I am all for chocolate tones, deep and dark like an almost-black espresso, warm and rich like cocoa, or light creamy browns like freshly baked biscotti. Browns are great neutrals and denote stability, reliability, and approachability. It is the color of our earth and is associated with all things natural or organic. Perfect Brown Paint Colors for your home: Bittersweet Chocolate #2114-10*, Biscotti #CC-486*, Cedar Key OC-16*, Capilano Bridge #CC-440*.*Colors by Benjamin Moore. My all-time favorite brown color? That would be “Strong Esspresso” by Beautitone Paints.

Heart-Shaped Waffle Maker

 Heart-Shaped Waffle Maker

My siblings and I used to have heart-shaped cakes for our birthdays when we were growing up, and there was nothing that said “I love you” like a double-decker French vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting and raspberries! There is something special about heart-shaped confections, like heart-shaped waffles for a perfect for Valentine’s Day breakfast in bed! The VillaWare V3100 Heart Waffle Maker shows your true feelings, topped with whipped cream and strawberries of course!

Black and White Heritage Kitchen

black and white heritage kitchen

These kitchens are great examples of effortless beauty (but I am sure the homeowners stressed for months over several file folders of decision making).  And there are plenty of things to love about this black and white farmhouse couture kitchen look; the black leaded glass on the creamy upper kitchen cabinets, the large scale black light fixtures, the black French doors leading to the patio, and the warmth of the heritage wooden table in the center.  This kitchen wouldn’t be nearly as striking without the painted black French doors, what an easy way to add visual interest.  Just like the comfort you get from warm bowl of potato and leek soup with crusty freshly baked bread, you would feel right at home in this kitchen.
