With so many practical features for kitchens today, you could probably use half of your cabinets if they were incorporated with smart storage solutions like these. Blum has fantastic corner drawer modules and a U-shaped drawer that fits directly to the front and sides of your sink, and an easy to access pull-out for garbage and recyclables as well as cleaning products. Other great products are the space corners (so much better that lazy susans) with BLUMOTION guides, and lift systems for upper cabinets. Check out the Interactive video to see how it works.
The Vice-President and Chief Designer of the Versace Group; Donatella Versace, is moving her iconic Roman-esque and classic interior designs to the skies with her plans to design luxurious interiors to private jets. The somewhat minimalistic and streamline patterns of her Couture home products are mirrored in this simply fantastic jet interior. A status symbol isn’t whether or not you own a private jet, but who has designed yours?
We all have those spaces in our homes that we have to get creative in order to utilize, and I esteem this dormer as the best use of dead space! Dormers can be a tricky bit of business to get right when attempting to be deemed as functional. Designer Collen McGill’s attic is featured in House and Home’s March 2008 magazine, and it is a fresh and tidy work of organizational art! With a wrap-around desk in a crisp white, and storage and shelves under the slopes of the ceiling, it certainly would be a cozy and refreshing place to work. Well done.
What Italian masterpiece would you choose to adorn your walls if you had an extra large sum of money burning a hole in your pocket? A sculpture by Donatello? Pages from the journals of Leonardo da Vinci? Not if you are Richard Moriarty who is known for his irreverent taste. Mr. Moriarty bolted a 1974 Lamborghini to the wall of his Newport Beach estate in California. The exotic car will seem to be suspended over a glass staircase leading to his wine cellar. Apparently the upkeep for this particular car was frustrating enough that this seemed to be the best way to enjoy it. And it really is great eye-candy, wherever it’s parked.
The Northern Lights inspired tile line by Moving Color is a technicolor wonder of spectacular proportions. These 4×4 glass tiles are black at room temperature, but all that changes with a turn of the shower taps; a gradual spectral display of the aurora borealis in your very own shower would make for a delightful morning treat. Wouldn’t these be fun in a guest bath? I love surprises. I saw the real phenomenon only once in the Muskoka region way back when I was in teen summer camp, I jipped myself out of the true experience watching the Northern Lights as I didn’t have contacts back then and I refused to wear my so-not-cool glasses, from what I could see it was beautiful, oh the things we do for our summer crushes.
I love the classic look of a good toile fabric, and this Acorn and Oakleaf pattern effects me in the same way. The traditional yet flirty pattern and Garnet on Sand color choice in the Le Jardin Basin is just divine! Sherle Wagner has a matching wallpaper, just be careful not to get too matchy, solid bath linens with accent garnet ribbon detailing will do just fine and perhaps just an accent wall of the matching wall covering.
The technology of today’s innovative televisions are becoming more fabulous by the minute. Can you ask more from your plasma television than a pin-clear wide screen image? Apparently you can, how about a hidden television? Perfectly disguised as a mirror, the television screen can only be seen when the television is turned on. You can also purchase special mirror glass to fit over your television that will work in the same way.
Pressed metal ceilings or tin ceilings were popular from the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century as an affordable alternative to expensive, artistic plaster. Tin-plated steel was pressed with embossed designs similar to the costly sculptured plaster, yet tin ceiling panels could be massed produced at a fraction of the cost. You can still get fabulous ornate designs in a tin tile, or if you really want to impress, see nationally recognized Joshua & Co. for simply incredible plaster-ceilings by true artisans.
The illusion of a serene sky-scape overhead is a wonderful touch to confined areas where true natural light is not possible. The illuminated translucent images from Sky Factory are used in hospitality, commercial and healthcare applications, where they can bring healing and openness to a sterile and often cold environment. It was really encouraging to read about the soothing effect that the SkyCeilings had on patients at Emerson Hospital’s Bethke Cancer Center in Concord, Massachusetts; I know firsthand that when you or a family member is facing difficult health treatments, healing environments can be comforting. What an innovative product!
